title: Table Topic Master: Role play description: On 2025-08-16 hosted a Table Topics session in CAAS Toastmaster club. —

Table Topics Master Script – Theme: “Role Play”

Introduction: “Good afternoon, dear fellow members and distinguished guests! Today’s Table Topics session will put your quick-thinking and acting skills to the test. The theme is ‘Role Play’—meaning, when I call you up, I’ll assign you a character or role, and you’ll deliver a 1-2 minute speech as if you were that person! Be creative, have fun, and let’s see some amazing stories!”

Transition to Questions: “Now, let’s begin! I’ll call on speakers one by one, give them a role, and they’ll step into that character’s shoes right away. Remember: Speak clearly, stay in character, and most importantly—enjoy the spotlight!”

🌱 Easy (Beginner-Friendly)

Simple roles with clear, everyday scenarios.

  1. A Teacher Scolding a Student for Eating in Class “The student insists it’s ‘brain fuel.’ Respond as the strict but tired teacher.”

  2. A Chef Explaining a Weird Pizza Topping “Convince the audience that pineapple (or another odd ingredient) belongs on pizza.”

  3. A Parent Convincing a Kid to Eat Vegetables “Use ridiculous superhero metaphors (‘Broccoli gives you laser vision!’).”

  4. A Tourist Asking for Directions in a Foreign Language “Mime and speak gibberish ‘Italian’ while pointing at a map.”

  5. A Weather Reporter Describing a ‘Perfectly Normal’ Day “Ignore the tornado/frog rain happening behind you.”

🌿 Intermediate (Light Challenge)

Requires slight creativity or acting but still grounded in reality.

  1. A Cat Demanding Dinner from Its Human “Use dramatic pauses and judgmental stares.”

  2. A Salesperson Selling a Useless Product “Pitch ‘invisible socks’ or ‘self-stirring coffee’ with a straight face.”

  3. A Lifeguard at a Pool with No Water “Give safety tips to imaginary swimmers.”

  4. A News Anchor Reporting on a Silly Event “‘Breaking news: A local squirrel has stolen all the picnic blankets!’”

  5. A Robot Trying to Blend in at a Party “Use stiff movements and literal interpretations (‘Human small talk protocol activated.’).”

🌲 Slightly Harder (But Not Advanced)

Adds quirky twists or requires quick character shifts.

  1. A Mirror That Talks Back “Critique the person looking into you (‘That shirt? Bold choice.’).”

  2. A Disgruntled Snowman in Summer “Complain about the heat and your melting career.”

  3. A Book Angry at Its Reader for Not Finishing It “‘Chapter 5 was my BEST work!’”

  4. A Wi-Fi Router with Feelings “Yell at devices for overusing you (‘Stop streaming cat videos!’).”

  5. A Time Traveler from the 1920s Confused by Smartphones “Call it a ‘tiny demon mirror’ or ‘witchcraft.’”

Wrapping Up:

“What an entertaining round of role-play! Let’s give all our speakers a big round of applause. Remember, Table Topics isn’t just about thinking on your feet—it’s about storytelling, creativity, and stepping into someone else’s world. Great job, everyone!”
