title: Table Topic Master: Tolerant description: On 2024-07-20 hosted a Table Topics session in CAAS TMC. —

Dear Fellow members, Distinguished guests,

Good afternoon.

Today I will host the table topic session. This is a session that we encourage everyone to come to the stage to enjoy speaking to the public.

There are 2 rules here.

  1. When you come to the stage, please write down your name on the white board first.

  2. Your speech should be at least 1 minute long, but no longer than 2 minutes. Please respect our timer’s signal.

Today, we will talk about the topic of tolerant. Raise your hands if you do know its meaning. (Ask someone to explain.)

(Thank you.)

Tolerant means willing to accept behaviour and beliefs that are different from your own, although you might not agree with or approve of them.

This is not a word that we use everyday. However, this is a mindset that I think we should all have because our world is full of all kinds of human beings. We can hardly agree with all people’s beliefs, but we could just let it be peacefully.

Now let’s begin our questions.

  1. What you cannot tolerate in a Toastmasters meeting?

  2. How would you react if your friends disagree with you about a restaurant you choose for dinner together?

  3. You are interview a candidate, and you find that he has a tattoo on his wrist. What would you do?

  4. Your parents disapprove that your decision to marry a person that belongs to a different ethnicity. How would you react?

  5. You are working on a group project. One of your group members is a student with a hearing disability. Another group member suggests to speak with the lecturer, in order to transfer the student with a disability to another group because „you don’t have time to read the book out loud for her“. What will you do?

  6. You are attending an event. The national anthem is performed before the event begins. The audience stands up but one of the attendees continues to sit calmly. What will you do?

  7. What’s the moment that your tolerance benefits you a lot?

  8. How would you use humor to release your anger during an untolerable situation?

  9. If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

  10. If money were no object, what would be your dream job?

Thank you very much for answering my questions. I have learned a lot.

Many of us think about these questions now and then, but it is not often that we sit down and ponder these questions in depth. However, doing this can be a great way to open up conversions with people around you and gain deeper insight about our society. Tolerance is a lever for sustainable development, as it encourages the construction of more inclusive and thus more resilient societies that are able to draw on the ideas, creative energy and talents of each of their members

I hope we all enjoy a peaceful life when we can tolerate the diverse forms of human beings.

Thank you.
